Modelcarmate

Modelcarmate originated from a hobby of collecting Matchbox and Hot Wheels. In 2007 I started looking for everything I had in my youth or would have liked to have had in the past. In addition, I also became interested in other brands such as Majorette, SIKU, Corgi and many other brands in the scale 1:64 but also other scales.

As with many other collectors, lack of space started to play a major role at a certain point and I started selling, among other things, the duplicate models that I had in order to regain more space. Selling to other collectors also turned out to be a fun activity and started to become a kind of 2nd hobby next to the collecting hobby. In 2008 I started an Ebay store and really enjoyed doing this, partly because of contact with other collectors but also because of nice happy reactions when people had received their purchases in good condition. Things that only motivated me more to continue doing it as well as possible and to keep the service level as high as possible. From that period, through a sale, I have made a collector friend and we still meet regularly at fairs. This is actually also how the name Modelcarmate came about. In English "mate" means friend or buddy. Unfortunately, at some point Ebay decided to increase the prices of keeping a shop and also the sales costs so much that it was no longer profitable for me to keep a shop there as a hobby. I then switched to Marktplaats in order to be able to thin out my collection. The idea of having some kind of online shop kept on my mind and mainly because I had tasted working with an Ebay shop I wanted to start some kind of web shop again in some way. In 2012 I started to get the itch and started to seriously look around at the providers of web shops and everything that goes with it. I had already thought of the name for my new web shop. In August 2014 I had looked at and tried several providers of web shops, my current provider where I had already registered the domain names turned out to be the best choice for me and the start of my web shop was a fact. About 1.5 years later, with a lot of learning and trial work, the webshop is online and in the construction phase. On April 16, 2018, everything became official with a registration at the Chamber of Commerce and it finally became a real company.
